Project Description:

Sub-Zero desired a signature piece to capture the top end of the luxury market. The goal was a residential refrigerator that looked as it was taken right out of a restaurant. Demonstrating a commercial/professional look on the outside while having the sophistication and refinement of a luxury appliance on the inside. The result is Sub-Zero’s Pro Line of refrigeration. This refrigerator comes in two widths 48” and 36” and can be freestanding or built-in for a more integrated look. The appliance is constructed of almost 100% stainless steel with a glass door option that offers elegant transparency to an otherwise stainless-steel sculpture.

The refrigerator cavity is designed with a number of innovative features. Channeled sidewall LED lighting that acts as both supplemental task lighting as well as a door area night light. A unique auto-close hinge system utilizes precision-built hinges to prevent the door from slamming shut. The cam takes over to close the door the final 15-degrees.

Two stainless steel bins are designed to fit under the refrigerator shelf and make usable space that is other wise wasted by shorter items on the shelf below. With six potential locations and two bins the possible configurations are numerous. The versatile design is oven-safe so a consumer can marinate meat in the bin overnight, and then transfer it directly to the oven.

The presence of a glass door resulted in the loss of door shelves which left users without a place to put their condiments and other quick access items. our solution was to add a pull out shelf on the floor of the cavity with an innovative retention and division system. pivoting gates are mounted to side rails where they can be slid back and forth for positioning and pivoted out of the way when not needed. Thus providing a place to put tall condiment type items without the danger of them falling over during movement of the shelf.

An upper drawer is a crisper compartment specifically developed to store vegetables. Its clear view window enhances visibility inside the compartment. The drawer divider design is interchangeable for complete compartmentalization.

The electronic control system gives the consumer the ability to set a different temperatures for the different refrigerator and freezer compartments. The controls are comprised of a touch screen that allows for adjustment and monitoring of the temperature and other settings all from the convenience of the exterior of the product. Other settings such as language and °F and °C are customizable.
